In many ways, the creation of Le Choc des Légendes embodies its founder’s gratitude toward two mentors—two Legends who profoundly shaped his life:
Marc Bonnant, Geneva, 81, former Bâtonnier of the Geneva Bar.
Honours and Distinctions: Recipient of the Prix du Rayonnement Français, awarded by Maurice Druon, former Permanent Secretary of the Académie Française; Officer of the Legion of Honour, awarded by Academician Marc Fumaroli for his contribution to the promotion and defence of the French language.
Notable Cases: Counsel to Farah Pahlavi, the last Empress of Iran; Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan; Suha Arafat, widow of Yasser Arafat; and Frédéric Dard.
Christian Charrière-Bournazel, Paris, 79, former First Secretary of the Conférence du Stage, former Bâtonnier of the Paris Bar, and former President of the French National Bar Council.
Honours and Distinctions: René Cassin Human Rights Prize; Knight of the Legion of Honour, awarded by President François Hollande.
Notable Cases: Counsel for the civil parties in the trials of Klaus Barbie and Maurice Papon; counsel to King Norodom Sihanouk of Cambodia; and counsel in the defence of President Ahmadou Ahidjo of Cameroon.

Dean Robert Dossou, lawyer, former President of the Constitutional Court of Benin, former Minister, former Member of Parliament, former Bâtonnier, and former Dean of the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Political Sciences at the University of Abomey-Calavi.
Robert Dossou is the originator of the concept of the “National Conferences,” which transformed democracies in West and Central Africa. He chaired the National Preparatory Committee for the National Conference of Benin (December 1989 – February 1990).
Honours and distinctions: Grand Officer of the National Order of Benin; Commander of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques (France); Paul Harris Fellow – 4 Rubies with Distinction of Benefactor (Rotary International Foundation); Goodwill Ambassador of the State of Arkansas, USA (a distinction awarded by Governor Bill Clinton on 3 February 1992); Leading Lawyer (London, 2001).
Professor Georges Haddad, mathematician, former President of Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, the largest social sciences university in Europe. Georges Haddad was both the youngest and the longest-serving President of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and had the privilege of being a disciple of Pablo Picasso.
Honours and distinctions: Knight of the Legion of Honour; Commander of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques for contributions to education.
